Solar Powered Cities

April 26th, 2009 No comments

Walking around my neighborhood, there are a bunch of half-built buildings.  One of the concerns about buying any of these condos is what happens if the building never gets finished?  In a condo, you may be able to get a cheaper place now – but it’s your maintenance fees that will have to subsidize any unsold units/ uncompleted buildings – shady situation.

Developers are cutting corners with quality and cutting deals to keep people/buyers in residence.  Caveat Emptor, people.

One of the more innovative residential buildings I’ve seen is this one in development on 54th street between 8th and 9th ave. Seems like someone’s on the right track.  I’ve wondered how solar power would be able to be used in a city like New York.  In the background is the Hearst building – also an eco-minded building

Roseland

I leave near the Roseland Theater. It’s an iconic space in Midtown West Manhattan near Times Square. The most spectacular acts from Madonna to Motorhead.

Dropkick Murphys played last week. Tonight, The Pogues. I know these groups have been around for ages – but iconic bands, for sure.
